Give a Beat is in the final hours to raise the necessary funds to make a direct impact and turn lives around for those that are caught up in the mass incarceration crisis. Each one of us is directly effected by mass incarceration; whether it is through the $80 billion annually paid in taxes to fund the system, the skyrocketing rates of people sitting behind bars with their lives and that of their families being destroyed, to the youth that are caught up in the system either themselves or their family members, the time is now to help those that need it the most get on a new track and start life anew. Communities of color are disproportionately affected by the crisis and these communities lack the resources to break the school - prison - release - prison cycle. Through our programs, advocacy and education, Give a Beat is a beacon of hope and offers tangible, innovative solutions to seemingly intractable problems. We ask that our dance music community join us! Funds raised for On a New Track will go to launch a mentorship program that pairs successful music industry professionals with people leaving prison in an effort to provide opportunities for economic self-sufficiency so that they are able to support themselves rather than go back to jail. Of the 700,000 people being released from prisons yearly, close to 70% are rearrested within three years of their release. Our mentorship program aims to change that - but we need your help.A donation of any amount goes a long way - $20, $50, $100, $1000 will be incredibly useful. Please do not hesitate - do it today and tell your friends to do the same. By not acting and sitting idly by, we are part of the problem. Together, let’s be part of the solution and create a future filled with hope for all!
